The Position

As the Behavioral Science and Experimentation Lead at Novo Nordisk, you will be the driving force behind a cutting-edge experimentation practice that is integral to our strategic growth. Your role will be to integrate behavioral science across Customer Experience (CX), Analytics, Marketing, and other business areas. You will lead a skilled team of behavior science experts to design and manage experiments and tests that generate actionable insights and drive behavior change. You will lay the groundwork for projects with a solid behavioral foundation, ensuring stakeholder alignment and scalable outcomes that significantly impact our business.

Your dynamic leadership will be vital in translating our business objectives into behavioral statements that identify profitable behavior changes, fostering an outcomes-first culture. By imparting strategic behavioral science skills and pinpointing opportunities for behavioral intervention, you will not only advance Novo Nordisk's mission but also champion a commitment to measurable results that will shape the future of healthcare in a rapidly changing market landscape.

Relationships

Reports to Customer Exp & Human Centered Lead. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including therapy area marketing leads/teams, customer experience, analytics, legal, CMR (Clinical Medical and Regulatory) and technology, to align experimentation and marketing optimization initiatives with clear business outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Experiment Identification: Identify and capitalize on new opportunities for innovation and performance enhancement using behavior science insights and strategic business objectives

  • Experimentation Oversight: Craft and manage a comprehensive experimentation strategy that tests hypotheses and measures the impact of behavioral changes on key outcomes. Design and oversee behavioral experiments, ensuring they align with marketing goals and broader business objectives

  • Cross Functional Engagement and Enablement: Engage and enable cross-functional teams to participate in and contribute to experimentation initiatives. Build experimentation capabilities across the organization through workshops, training and other collaborative efforts. Promote data-driven decision-making and the use of behavioral insights throughout NNI

  • Data-Driven Optimization: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including marketing, to ensure that behavioral insights inform and optimize campaigns and strategies

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data from experiments. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data and leverage it to generate actionable insights. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders based on experiment results

  • Experimentation Tracking: Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for experimentation and optimization initiatives. Regularly report on the outcomes and impact of experimentation initiatives. Maintain a repository of learnings to guide future decisions

  • Behavioral Science Advocacy: Promote the application of behavioral science within the organization, highlighting its impact on customer engagement and market positioning

  • Ethical Research Leadership: Uphold ethical research practices, ensuring the integrity and privacy of data and participants

  • Scaling Decisions: Guide business to make strategic decisions on scaling or initiatives based on experiment results

  • Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and encourage cross-pollination of behavior science and experimentation best practices and lessons learned among the team and across the organization

    Physical Requirements

    Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

    Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree or PhD in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Data Science or related field preferred

  • 10+ years of experience, including demonstrated history in human-centered design, behavioral science, or experimentation

  • 8+ years of leading a team of behavioral science experts

  • Proven track record of designing and executing successful experiments and optimization projects

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry/life sciences/health care/health insurance/health tech is a plus

  • Understanding chronic disease areas especially diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases is a plus

  • Experience using data analytics to inform experiment design decisions and recognize user behavior patterns

  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in design strategies and stay ahead of industry trends

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., R, Python, SQL)

  • Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives that enhance user experience through conception to innovative design and execution

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences

  • Strong collaboration and team management skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity

  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement

  • Experience leading and implementing organizational change and transformation initiatives

  • Experience with US operations within life sciences health care and preferred
